RhinoVision - Week #14

Game # Visitors Home
1 Dynamic Duo VS. Eager Beavers
The Rhino's Vision:

Playoff Time! Let's look back, shall we? In week #9 the Beavers crushed the Duo 127-76 and lead this series 1-0.

The Duo has been sliding badly and just edged the surging Elephants out by a mere 14 point to make the playoffs. Meanwhile the Eager Beavers have been being bad boys off the field and on. So one would think that this week would be no different, no? Well the Rhino's divine vision smells a possible upset. But it's crunchtime and winning team alway seem to find a way when they need too. So the better team squeaks by in a close one...

The Rhino says...Eager Beavers win by +2.

2 Rough Riders VS. Destroyers
The Rhino's Vision:

The Kiss Yer' Sister rematch! Back in week #7 these teams shared a 67 pointer. Hey Rough Riders, you should be ashamed of yourselves! You squeaked out your last game to seal the Northeast Division title, but you owe that more to the Duo's slide than to your efforts. And now you have to go on the road to meet a PUNK-ASS Rookie! Sheesh!

Since these teams last locked lips, the Rough Riders mustered an impressive 1-5 slide. These truly ARE your father's Rough Riders. Do you long to be the Prom Queen again? You had a career year last season, but you probably are still stinging from that one point loss to the Elephants in the North Division finals last year! Two winning seasons out of seven and an 0-2 playoff record. The Rhino NEVER forgets!

And the Destroyers? Well, while the Riders wept along, the Destroyers took the kiss and used it as a building block as they closed out with and impressive 5-1 record. The Destroyer's braintrust came into the league as an assistant for SQUONK in 2000. A 1-12 team that managed to win 5 games last season. Based upon SQUONK's impressive return to 3 big wins, I guess we know what the difference was for them last year. The Rhino has been tough on the Destroyers down the stretch. But the Destroyers are a young team that have consistently risen to the challenge. Well they shouldn't have to rise too far this week...

The Rhino says...Destroyers win by +5.

3 Fighting Lounge Chairs VS. Private's Parts
The Rhino's Vision:

History: FLC absolutely THUMPED the Parts in week #11, 120-58. But the Parts still lead the series by a 7-6 margin.

FLC traditionally has that odd/even winning/losing season thing happening. This year started out like they were going to break the mold and toss in an extra losing effort this year. But wait! An impressive 7-1 run down the stretch pulled them from the ashes and nearly landed them the Southwest Division championship. But that was a sad output this last week. So if you want to pee on the big dog you'll need lift your leg a little higher this week!

The Parts looked invicible until the final 3 weeks where they looked merely mortal at times. The likelyhood of "winning out" when they were 10-0 seemed remote so it had to be of some relief to get that first lost out of the way. But I'm sure that second debacle was something they would have preferred to avoid.

The Rhino likes the Chair's chances and might just be the stumbling block to a second championship for the Parts. The Rhino smells a major upset!

The Rhino says...Fighting Lounge Chairs win by +2.

4 Invaders VS. Young Guns
The Rhino's Vision:

The Young Guns throttled the Invaders 70-66 back in week #11 and also lead the series by a 6-2-1 margin.

The Invaders struggle a bit at times this season, but still came out on top in the Southwest Division. They fought hard to get back on top after the surging FLC briefly slipped by them. An organization with pride and a previous championship under their belt was not to be denied.

"And in the other corner, the contender..." The Young Guns. An organization that has fielded solid teams in all three of its seasons. Is this their year in the spotlight? This team took some hits this season, but has kept chugging along knowing that they would get their shot. And the Rhino see's no reason that the Invaders are nothing more than a speed bump as the Guns begin the pursuit...

The Rhino says...Young Guns win by +8.
