WEEK #6 Rewind

Rough Riders

47

Vs.

Millionnaire Pond Scum 30

SCUM by +13

OK, "This is truly the upset of the week." I said if they won that this is what it would be and that's exactly what happened. Mrrs. Smith & Freeman made this happen for the Riders. Keep in mind that the SCUM were without Steve Young this week, but he probably wouldn't have been able to cover the whole 17 point difference. This was an important win for the Riders, as they are currently a game up on the SCUM within the division. For the SCUM this loss is the difference between sitting on top at 4-2 and sitting in third at 3-3. This game definately muddies the waters of the North Division.

Bulimic Cannibals

30

Vs.

Hackers 32

Cannibals by +2

They huffed, they puffed, but in the end they couldn't blow the Hacker's house down. I guess Joe Cannibal is beginning to suffer from emphysema as the fall short of the mark again this week. The Hackers finally get a respectable, but not outstanding game from the number one overall draft pick Brett Favre. The murky condition of the North Division and this win keep the Hackers in the fray only a game and a half out of first place. The Cannibals could have really helped themselves had they managed to scrape up a win here. Unfortunately for them them they couldn't pull it together. On a brighter note, FLC actually helped them by beating the Invaders and giving them a chance of getting back into running in the brutal South Division.

Eager Beavers

29

Vs.

Elephants 42

Elephants by +5

In the Rhino's only correct pick this week, their savannah brethren the Elephants stampede over the not so Eager Beavers. The Elephants now sit on top of the North Division by a half of a game over the Rough Riders. The Elephants are probably not the best team in the division, but at they have been consistent in being average. The Beavers must be feeling the mid-season blues as they undergo the painful learning process called "expansion team". A woeful 1-5 start could have them cleaning out the locker very early this season. If they are looking for inspiration to right there sinking ship, just look across the field to the Elephants who were in a similar mess last season before laying waste to nearly everyone in the second half of last season.

Invaders

30

Vs.

Fighting Lounge Chairs 39

Invaders by +3

Well, Mr. Bledsoe did get grounded this week, but Emmitt and the Invaders receivers didn't get it on the tracks as the Invaders drop their third straight game. All this from a team that started off looking like the team to beat in the South Division. It's not too late as they are still a solid playoff contender, but if they want the division title they need to get their house in order quickly. As for FLC? Teams have been rolling over for them, but they have consistently put up good numbers (generally better than this week) even though overall scoring has been down the past couple of weeks. As I said previously "you can regain it [the number one ranking] this week with a convincing win and a humiliating loss by the SCUM. Although I wouldn't call this win "convincing", any loss by the SCUM to the Rough Riders is humiliating. You are beginning to run away with the South Division and the league for that matter. So while the Rhino is getting pounded (once again) he might as well have a big slice of humble pie by putting you back on top.

Private's Parts

37

Vs.

THRAK 36

Parts by +2

Almost, not quite as the Part's win but hammer the Rhino by failing to cover a lowly 2 point spread. The Parts really helped themselves while the Invaders stumbled again. It's a long way to go, but I'm sure the Parts will take what they can get while they can. Every little bit helps. THRAK on the other hand is a truly a house of card going up in flames. This team seemed reasonable at the start of the season as they showed us all a very consistent performance in their week one win. But since that time they have stumbled along to only one other win in their six games and are in serious trouble of fading into oblivion in the second half of the season. The future looks pretty bleak for the kings of hype. Put up or shut up.
